About WCEDC
The WCEDC is a non-profit corporation that was established in 2002 in a response to having a one-stop shop to serve existing county business, promote the development of business start-ups, to relocate business and help facilitate economic growth and stability for Washburn County. WCEDC's Mission: "To Expand the Tax Base, Create New Jobs, and Retain Existing Businesses in Washburn County."
The WCEDC is State of Wisconsin, with it's Own Articles of Incorporation and operating under member approved By-Laws. The membership is comprised of county area businesses (including lenders, utilities, Chambers of Commerce, and local units of government (County, Cities, Villages and Towns).
Funding for the WCEDC comes from tiered membership contributions from businesses and organizations that are located in or serve Washburn County. WCEDC also has an on-going annual contract with the Washburn County Industrial Development Agency for the administration of several Revolving Loan Funds (RLF's), and a sizable annual injection of funds from Washburn County.
We support all businesses large and small, industrial and commercial. We work directly with public and private entities in the County including its political subdivisions as well as both State and Federal Governments to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive assistance.
Washburn County has a lot to offer, both in terms of quality of life, and being at the "Crossroads of the North," also for business opportunities. Numerous Lakes, Rivers, stream and a large expanse of public forested lands and trails has something for all outdoor-enthusiasts.
