Washburn County Area Manufacturing Association (WCAMA)
The WCEDC is working very closely with the Washburn County Area Manufacturers Association that was started with the help of the EDC. The intentions of establishing and maintaining the group is to assist county manufacturers in making business easier and perhaps a little more profitable. This is being done collectively by the group through sharing Best Management Practices, providing speakers to the group in areas of interest and touring manufacturers in the area.
The group focuses on mutual interests and common desires to get more information. Topics that have been discussed include; manufacturing training opportunities, selling to the government, health care and other employee benefits, availability of grants and low-interest loans for manufacturers along with OSHA Arc Flash standards.
Most participants agree that this is a worthwhile endeavor and meet periodically on more of a social basis to share ideas, information and experiences. The group is actively looking at synergies between area manufacturers to increase business and keep dollars revolving locally. They is a sharing about present concerns and issues that face all manufacturers
