2015 Fall Fish Harvest Spooner Hatchery

Friends Into Spooner Hatchery Inc. (FISH held a Fish Harvest Open House On Friday September 25, 2015. People Attending were able to watch the actual walleye harvest from the ponds at the DNR Hatchery in Spooner.

There are a total of 7 musky ponds one acre in size in which nearly 34,000 musky were raised. The average musky size is over 12 inches when they are transported to lakes in Wisconsin. 48 lakes in 16 counties were the recipients of the 2016 musky production from the Spooner Hatchery. 

There are a total of 18 one acre walleye ponds and 6 one-half acre walleye ponds in which in excess of 328,000 walleye were produced at the Spooner Hatchery. The average walleye size is in the excess of 7 inches when they are transported to lakes in Wisconsin. 38 lakes in 11 counties in Wisconsin were the recipients of the walleye production from the Spooner Hatchery.

As a result of having to repair four ponds at the hatchery, FISH has the ponds liners for sale. The sizes are 20 x 20, 25 x 50 for $80 and larger sizes available. Uses include tarps for firewood, landscaping and gardening, building your own pond etc. Contact Mike Spafford 715-520-0237 if interested in purchasing a liner.

2015 Northwood School Career Day
2015-2016 Northwood School Career Day

WCEDC and Northwood High School held their second Career Day at Northwood High School for the 2015-2016 school year. Students grades 6-8 were able to participate in several activities as well as learn about careers from local manufacturers in the trades industry and WCEDC would like to thank T & T Tool, Spooner Machine, and WITC for their participation in the event.
 
A second Hospitality and Leadership program is being set up at Northwood High in the spring of 2016.
 
WCEDC is seeking business membership for the 2016 budget cycle and thank you for consideration of being a member. Letters will be going out in the mail
