Agenda Approval: Rob Paine made a motion to accept and approve the agenda, Romaine Quinn 2nd.  M.C. by unanimous vote.

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes on July 20th, 2016. Virginia Hurckman made a motion to approve minutes from July 20th, 2nd by Romaine Quinn.  M.C.   Unanimous vote.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Jim Bethel read the monthly Treasurer’s report. Jim reported on the monthly bills.  The total expense for July/August, 2016 was $8671.23 with payroll.  Leaving a checking account balance of $93056.98 and reported WCEDC received the 3 qtr. subsidy from WC. The additional $9648.18 in the CD accounts to be used for marketing expenses, Web Site, and for business plan development and expenses.   RMAP fund is in the amount of $7321.80.  Total available funds are $93056.98.  Marge Quinn has provided board members with a Treasurer Report, P&L, detail from QB and a balance excel spreadsheet for the annual income with expenses for June and July, 2016. Ken Schultz made a motion to accept the Treasurer Report and pay all bills as noted, 2nd by Romaine Quinn.   M.C. by unanimous vote.  Marge Quinn asked the Board Members if she could have someone come in and clean carpets.  President Klassa asked for an estimate of cleaning carpets and bring back to the board for approval at the September meeting.

NorthLake’s Community Clinic- Madelaine Herder- Director of Development attended the WCEDC meeting to present a brief presentation about their organization, its services, the impact and the difference it makes in the community when high quality health care is available to everyone. They currently are located in Washburn County in Minong.  NorthLakes Community Clinic is a non profit 501 © (3) organization.  They exist to provide an integrated array of health care services to everyone regardless of income or insurance.  They are working hard to make new community connections who value the services NorthLakes effectively provides to everyone. 

 

Director Report - Director Joel Zimmerman stated he has met with a few businesses, and has experienced an overall positive reception by the community members and employers.  He did indicate he had received a couple of cynical comments, but is working on improving that.  He has listened to the needs of businesses and frustrations with getting good help.   Joel attended the County Finance Board Committee with Mike and indicated he introduce himself to the Board.  Joel discussed ways he is working on the marketing aspect without spending a ton of money, and the use of Marketing we can do ourselves in the office, as the example of Facebook posts, and boosting for $5.00.  Joel discussed in recognizing the WCEDC Members, and posts a Monthly Feature Banner for Membership in our Newsletter or Facebook.  Joel met with the Shell Lake Administrator, Andy Ike and Mayor Sally Peterson on Tuesday.
