President Ken Schultz called the meeting to order at 755am at the Washburn County Economic Development office located at 208 Vine Street, Spooner, WI.

 

Present: Jim Bethel, Lloyd Wallace Connie Lester Rob Paine, Ken Schultz, Jim Dohm, and Skip Fiedler

 

Absent:, Morris Gillett, Bill Marx, Dennis Stewart, and Tom Klassa. 

 

Others Present:  Margie Quinn, Mike Spafford, Michele Voight, and Todd Keup.

 

Concerned Citizens:  None

 

Approval of Agenda- Skip Fiedler made a motion to approve agenda, 2nd by Lloyd Wallace.  M.C. by unanimous vote.

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes Skip Fiedler made a motion to approve minutes from July 16th, 2014 2nd by Rob Paine.  M.C. by unanimous vote.

 

Treasurer’s Report by Jim Bethel- Jim Bethel read the monthly Treasurer’s report. Jim B. reported on the monthly bills.  The total expense for July 16, 2014 – August 20th, 2014 were $12,215.33 leaving a checking account balance of $86498.30 and an additional $9504.64 in the CD account to be used for marketing expenses, Web Site, and for business plan development.   RMAP fund is in the amount of $7596.23.  Total available funds are $103658.43.   Marge Quinn has provided board members with a Treasurer Report, P&L, detail from QB and a balance excel spreadsheet for the qtr. on income with expense.   Rob Paine made a motion to accept the Treasurer Report and pay all bills as noted, 2nd by Lloyd Wallace.   M.C. by unanimous vote. 

 

Todd Keup-Web Site =  Mike Spafford briefly discussed the Web site costs and explained how we would like to set it up.  Todd Keup discussed the basic format set up, and give the board the low end costs along with high end costs.  Todd indicated the low end would be $1500.00 and that would include just the basic set up leaving Marge and Mike to completely download, and copying and pasting any formats into the new WCEDC Web Site.  Jim Dohm made a motion to cap high end for the web site at $4000.00 to put the new WCEDC Web Site in place.  Skip Fiedler 2nd the motion.  M.C. by unanimous vote

 

Michelle Voight/Director Tourism=    Michelle gave a small presentation of what Tourism is doing right now, and briefly discussed what they have accomplished.  Michelle has requested $1000.00 from WCEDC for Home and Garden Show in Minneapolis with volunteers to participate in the show.  Connie Lester and Jim Dohm have volunteered to go to the home and Garden Show for Tourism.  Skip Fiedler made a motion to give $1000.00 to Tourism for the Home and Garden show in Minneapolis, Lloyd Wallace 2nd the motion.  M.C.  by unanimous vote.

 

Director Report - Director Mike Spafford discussed projects he is working on and the meetings he has attended for the last month for WCEDC. Mike updated the board on the meeting with Todd Keup from Magnifisites on and new updated EDC Website.  WCEDC Board agreed to allocate funds set aside for updates on the website and move forward with Magnifisites.  Mike stated he has about 5 headings to put into place with drop down bars in the right location.  Mike commented on several projects he would like to accomplish for WCEDC.  Mike updated the board on the Ice House.  Mike indicated there were several things pending yet without commitments to move forward and they still needs to put pieces together yet.  Mike updated the board on two new businesses in the Spooner area.
